Mine did not work December 26, 2008 0 out of 12 found this review helpful
I tried to set mine up on Xmas eve and it refused to read any DVDs, rendering it useless. I feel disappointed and cheated.
Top class Machine December 23, 2008 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
This is a top class machine bought from Amazon and was far cheaper than anywhere else, the play back quality is supurb and it is so easy to use even my wife has no problem recording her favourite shows, if you hook it up to a video recorder you can also convert you videos to DVD, recording from HDD to DVD is easy if you want to keep a copy on disc, no more video tapes to store.
Panasonic DMR-EX78EB- The Very Best HDD Recorder December 21, 2008 6 out of 7 found this review helpful
The Panasonic DMR-EX78EB Hdd Recorder is one of the best pisture and sound recorders available, I bought mine a couple of weeks ago, and am very pleased now I have mastered all the the various functions. It is not an easy machine to master, as it takes a lot of manual reading reading and trying out the remote to fully be happy with the remote functions, it took me a week of doing half hour leave it and retry before I got the hang of it, If you are none technical you must persevere with this machine as it will pay dividends.
Panasonic DMR-EX78 250GB HDD / DVD Recorder December 20, 2008 10 out of 10 found this review helpful
Panasonic DMR-EX78EB-K Freeview+ 250GB HDD DVD Recorder - Black
I purchased this Recorder off AMAZON and I have been very impressed with it. To get the best recording quality use the highest setting (XP), which equates to about 55 hours of capacity. Whilst you can play most DIVX's films from USB stick certain sticks / films are not supported. You can not transfer files from the HDD to the USB, just play them.
Again to benefit from the best quality I would suggest using a HDMI lead (not included) rather than the standard AV cable included in the box.
Please bear in mind this player only has a Digital Tuner, so you need a good digital signal to use the player. I do not see this as a problem, as Analogue TV is being switched off over the next 2 / 3 years in most areas.
I have not experienced a noisy fan, although there is a cooling fan attached to the back of the unit (i.e. it is not flush with the case).
Set-up is very easy and I like the Menu's, it takes a while to get used to the functions from the remote, so I would suggest keeping the manual to hand - which is generally very informative.
I also ordered some panasonic DVD RAM discs, as they are re-writable, but if you just want to back up programmes recorded to the Hard Drive cheaper DVD R discs will suffice.
To benefit from the upscalling of DVD's you will need (ideally) a 1080p TV or a HD ready set if you do not have a 1080p TV.
Only minor negatives are: Takes sometime to switch on after pressing the "on" button Only a single digital tuner, but if you have digital TV not a problem
Hope this review helps!
it's good for me December 17, 2008 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
Hi, Had mine about 10 days now, ordered Wednesday and received Saturday using the free delivery, which i thought was good, even though i was advised by tracking delivery monday,so no-one in for delivery and it was left at rear of house, not impressed with that, but set it up the next day using a labyrinth of cables via sat. receiver, dvd recorder and tv. set up simple just switch on and let it go,have tried most things now records to hdd easily plays most dvd's (region 2 )only, plays my movies which i have on a pen drive using usb port and freeview picture good, better than with freeview set top box,not tried recording to disc yet. i have this in use with a PANASONIC TX-26LXD80 TV and Panasonic TU-DSB30 Sat.receiver.They all seem to work well together the tv & dvd use same remotes (Vierra).
